African fit for the 21st century.
About Us
Africa Safer Internet Day (ASID) is a regional initiative promoting safer, responsible, and positive digital technology use. Aligned with the global Safer Internet Day (SID) vision, ASID addresses Africa’s unique challenges and opportunities in the digital space. The 2025 theme, “Digital Citizenship: Educating an African Fit for the 21st Century”, reflects the African Union’s focus on resilient education systems and inclusive, lifelong learning under SDG4 and AU Agenda 2063.
ASID 2025 highlights the importance of empowering youth, parents, and educators to navigate the digital world responsibly. Activities focus on fostering Digital Citizenship and equipping Africa’s next generation to engage safely online.
Coordinated by Child Online Africa (COA), an SIC+ member, in collaboration with the African Telecommunications Union (ATU), the ITU Regional Office in Africa, and partners, ASID unites stakeholders to create transformative digital ecosystems for Africa’s future.
